The Hungarian soprano, Krisztina Láki, studied at the Franz Liszt Academy and József Réti in Budapest.

Krisztina Láki made her professional debut in Berne, Switzerland, and was engaged as a leading member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Germany since 1979. In 1983 she held a guest contract with the Cologne Opera, where her roles included Adele in Die Fledermaus, Suzanna in La Nozze dei Figaro, Marcellina in Fidelio, Oscar in Un ballo in maschiera and Zdenka in Arabella. She made her debut at La Scala, Milan, as Blonde in Giorgio Strehlers’s new production of Il Seraglio in 1977 and her debut at Glyndebourne as Aminta in John Cox’s new production op Die Schweigsame Frau in 1979, returning the following year to sing Sophie in the new production of Der Rosenkavalier, conducted by Bernard Haitink. She achieved great success with her portrayal of Gilda (Rigoletto) in Stuttgart, Düsseldorf and Budapest and subsequently sang the role for the American debut, wich took place with the San Francisco Opera in 1981.

Krisztina Láki's other guest engagements include operas and concerts in Berlin, Budapest, London, Munich, Prague, Rome, Israel (first appearance in 1980), an extensive tour of the USA and the Festivals of Salzburg, Glyndebourne, Edinburgh, Berlin and Vienna. She has also worked with Frieder Bernius.

Krisztina Láki's wide repertoire ranges from J.S. Bach and Monteverdi to contemporary music. Other roles in her operatic repertoire include Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Pamina (Zauberflöte), Norina (Don Pasquale), Gluck’s Euridice and Michala in Carmen. Her concert repertoire is extensive, ranging from Monteverdi, J.S. Bach, Georg Frideric Handel, Haydn and Mozart to Gustav Mahler, Kodaly, Igor Stravinsky, Anton Webern and Orff. In 2000 She retired from activity as a singer.
