Soprano Juliane Banse emerged as an opera singer in the 1990s, and broke through on the international scene in 1998. Her family moved to Zürich when she was a little. She began playing violin at the age of five, also studying ballet. Her stage debut was as a young ballet dancer at the Zurich Opera House. At age fifteen she added vocal studies with Paul Steiner, then with Ruth Rohner of the Zurich Opera House.
